About Fischer Crane Co.
Fischer Crane's roots go back to 1976. Robert W. Fischer Sr., started Bob's Welding and Maintenance. He specialized in on-site mechanical and welding repairs for trucks and heavy equipment. His service expanded to include truck-mounted crane installations and crane sales. In 1977 he was appointed as Chicago's distributor for Pitman knuckleboom cranes. This prompted the new name "Fischer Equipment".
In 1978 Fischer Crane merged their sales and repair business with HAP cranes (a German knuckleboom manufacturer). With this merger, HAP Midwest became HAP's first full-service organization in the US. This allowed HAP to expand their knuckleboom imports division.
In February of 1981, Fischer Crane Co. took over full ownership of HAP and adopted the name being used today. He added Copma cranes to his product line. In 1983 Fischer Crane Co. broke ground on the current facility, a 10,000 square foot building on 2.5 acres, located along Bolingbrook's industrial corridor.
In 2004 Fischer Crane Co. had the opportunity to become the sole distributor of Amco Veba cranes in the US. Amco Veba offered better product warranty and support.
